Meet Our Teams

Arts and Humanities Outreach

The Arts and Humanities team leads the outreach programme of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures, working with schools and colleges to support underrepresented students in accessing higher education. From one-off events to long-term programmes, our work introduces students to university life and empowers them to explore their options with confidence. We collaborate with academic departments and student ambassadors to deliver inclusive, engaging activities that reflect our commitment to accessibility and innovation in outreach.

Contextual Outreach

The Contextual Outreach team delivers sustained programmes aimed at raising the aspirations and academic success of high-achieving students who are underrepresented in Higher Education. Our flagship initiatives include the Thomas Transition Programme for Year 11 students and Reach for Excellence for those in Years 12 and 13. Through subject taster sessions, study skills workshops, and guidance on careers, finance, and UCAS applications, the team equips students with the knowledge and confidence to pursue selective, research-intensive universities like the University of Leeds. They also collaborate on regional and national outreach partnerships to broaden access to Higher Education.

Contextual Admissions

The Contextual Admissions team is responsible for several projects including the flagship Contextual Admissions scheme, Access to Leeds, which provides a supported entry route to UK applicants from underrepresented groups. As well as the opportunity to receive a contextual offer for any undergraduate course here at Leeds, the programme offers additional support in the form of an academic skills module. The module provides a unique subject-related component, supported by academic staff, which aims to make the transition to studying as an undergraduate student easier.

We also run the Realising Opportunities programme, a national partnership initiative of 9 research intensive universities, which offers the opportunity for students to engage in opportunities to promote fair access to underrepresented groups and give them the chance to experience what being a university student entails.
