Health and Social Care Visit Days
Pre and Post Workshops
Before attending one of our Health and Social Care Visit Days, we would like to visit you and your students to deliver our 'Applying to Healthcare Courses' workshop, which we hope provides the perfect stepping board for engaging in the taster activities at Leeds. We are then able to follow this up in Year 13 with our 'Preparing for Healthcare Interviews' session, to aid your students in preparing for an interview for a healthcare course at University.
The Visit Day
Our health and social care taster sessions focus on our Nursing (Adult, Child or Mental Health) and Midwifery programmes here at Leeds.
Travel Costs & Other Important Notes
If the cost of getting to campus is a barrier to you and your students attending one of our Health and Social Care Visit Days, please do let us know by ticking the relevant box on the application form (linked below).
Due to demand and staff capacity, we are unable to offer taster sessions from our Medicine or Dentistry courses.
We aim to respond to a request within 10 working days.
Who are these events for?
Our Health and Social Care taster days are suitable for Year 12 and Year 13 / first and second year college students studying on one of the following routes, and who are interested in a career in Health and Social Care:
- at least one Science A Level (biology, human biology, chemistry, physics, applied science, or psychology)
- a Health and Social Care or Applied Science BTEC, CTEC or CACHE diploma
- an Access to Higher Education course related to health and social care
Our Health and Social Care taster days run on set days throughout the year for groups of students to attend with a teacher / staff member. The dates for 2026 /27 are:
- Wednesday 9th December 2026
- Wednesday 10th February 2027
- Wednesday 10th March 2027
Requests can also be made by colleges and sixth forms who would prefer a bespoke event on an alternative date, however this may not be possible due to our existing commitments.
