Leeds Futures - Sociology

Our national outreach programme, Leeds Futures – Sociology, is designed to inspire Year 12 students who are interested in studying Sociology and Social Policy at university.

On the programme, you will develop your subject knowledge through a series of academic taster workshops, giving you the opportunity to experience teaching from academics in the School Sociology and Social Policy (SSP). The programme also includes activities that support your skills development, insight into life as an undergraduate student and support your university applications.

What’s included in the Futures Programme?

The programme, running from March in Year 12 to December in Year 13, comprises a series of online sessions, as well as at least two in-person visits to the University of Leeds campus.

Through the academic content of the programme, you’ll explore changing social, cultural, economic and political processes such as the identities, inequalities and policies that shape our lives. You'll be encouraged to develop a critical understanding of society and social inequalities and how to affect change.

The information below gives you a general idea of the activities, and some of the dates, involved.

Our online sessions will take place in the evenings after school or college, in the hope that the programme has minimal impact on your current studies.
