Aspiring Medics Summer School

Are you a Year 10 student with dreams of becoming a doctor? Our Aspiring Medics Summer School is your chance to explore the world of Medicine and take the first steps toward a rewarding career.
What to Expect
Over three exciting days and two nights (Tuesday 25th – Thursday 27th August 2026), you will:
- Experience life as a medical student through interactive workshops and activities.
- Learn essential skills used by healthcare professionals.
- Meet inspiring role models including current medical students and doctors.
- Get expert guidance on what it takes to study Medicine.
Accommodation & Safeguarding
This is a fully residential programme. Students will stay in secure, supervised accommodation with all meals provided. Our experienced team ensures a safe and supportive environment throughout, with 24/7 pastoral care and safeguarding measures in place.
Eligibility
To apply for a place on this year's Aspiring Medics Summer School, you must:
- Be in Year 10 during the 2025-26 academic year.
- Have the academic potential to achieve good GCSE grades and study Medicine at University
Priority will be given to students who are studying in Yorkshire and the Humber and meet the above criteria, in addition to at least two of the following criteria:
- Your parents / carers did not go to university
- Your home postcode is in an area with low levels of participation in higher education
- You are from a household with a gross annual income of £25,000 or below OR are in receipt of Free School Meals
- You attend a school which performs below the national average at GCSE
- Your personal circumstances have had a disruptive impact on your education
- You are care experienced
Cost
The summer school is completely free of charge, including accommodation, meals, and all activities. Travel bursaries may be available for those who need support travelling to / from the University of Leeds.
