Girls into Electronics

Join us on Wednesday 1 July 2026, 9:10 - 14:55 for a campus event exploring electronics and delivered in partnership with UKESF.
During the day, students will find out more about Electronics and studying the subject at university level, hear from female graduate engineers working in the Electronics sector and get ‘hands on’ with Arduino microcontrollers.
For school groups (max 10 p/school). Female and nonbinary students only currently studying Maths and Physics.
The event is free of charge with places funded by The School of Electronic & Electrical Engineering. Lunch will be provided on the day.
Workshop details
Students will take part in two practical activities. The first with Arduino microcontrollers and a second workshop where students will build their own remote control cars.

What are the requirements for students selected to attend?
Students must be in Year 10, 11 or 12 and studying Maths and Physics.
This event is usually oversubscribed, so please only request the number of places you can fill.
Where does the event take place?
Registration is at Parkinson Court steps where a member of the STEM Outreach team will be there to welcome you onto campus.
Activities will be held in the School of Electronic & Electrical Engineering on the University of Leeds campus.
Risk Assessments
The risk assessment will be emailed to you along with arrival information, once your places have been confirmed.
Mini Bus Parking
You will be asked to provide the driver's name and registration details in advance of the event in order to book parking on campus for the duration of your stay.
