Life Sciences

Our Life Sciences Taster Days are tailored campus days for Year 12 students interested in - or undecided between - studying Biosciences, Medicine, and Healthcare courses.  Students will take part in a series of practical activities designed to give a hands-on insight into the degree and career paths available to them.

The event is free of charge and lunch will be provided.

Event details

During this event, students will be able to explore the differences between Neuroscience and Psychology, and Pharmacy and Pharmacology, whilst also exploring a wide array of other STEM and Healthcare-related courses. Students will also hear from a range of academics and student ambassadors from across the Faculty of Biological Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine and Health, whilst also being given the opportunity to explore the University's facilities and campus.

What are the planned activities?

A confirmed timetable will be sent to you upon confirmation of your place.  However, an example can be seen below:

  • 09:10 - Arrival and Registration
  • 09:30 - Welcome and Introduction
  • 10:00 - Workshop #1
  • 11:30 - Lunch (provided by the University of Leeds)
  • 12:15 - Campus Tour
  • 13:00 - Workshop #3
  • 14:30- Q&A
  • 14:55 - Evaluation and depart

 

What are the requirements for students selected to attend?

The Life Sciences Taster Days are open to current Year 12 students studying at least one science A level and interested in Biological Sciences and Healthcare courses.

If the event is over subscribed, please note that we will prioritise students who are currently under-represented within the Faculty of Biological Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine & Health.

Where does the event take place?

Activities will be held across the University of Leeds campus.
