Earth & Environmental Science

Environmental scientists, geologists, and geoscientists are all working together to tackle the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges, including the energy transition, low carbon futures, global food and water security, and understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

Geology involves the study of the Earth's materials, history, processes, resources, and natural hazards.  Geophysics involves the application of physics to many of the same areas, through the use of sound waves, gravity, and electromagnetism.  Environmental Science explores the interplay between Earth processes, ecological systems, and human society.
