Chemical Innovations

This campus day invites individual Year 12 students studying Chemistry, Maths and/or Physics to find out about Chemistry and Chemical Engineering courses taught at the University of Leeds.  You'll experience what it's like to study at the University and learn more about where these versatile subjects could lead you. Additionally, you'll take part in a campus tour, and meet current undergraduate students.

Activity details

During the day, you will explore how scientists are working to address modern challenges. You will discover new aspects of chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials science, and develop an understanding of how they will shape our future.  Could you be part of those future solutions?

This event is free of charge and lunch will be provided.

What are the planned activities?

A timetable will be sent to you upon confirmation of your place, but a sample itinerary is below:

  • 09:30 - Arrival and Registration
  • 09:45 - Welcome and Introduction
  • 10:15 - Lab Session
  • 12:00 - Lunch & Campus Tour
  • 13:00 - Lab Session
  • 14:15 - Ambassador Q&A
  • 14:45 - Evaluation and departure

What are the requirements for the Practical Day?

To attend you must 

  • Be in Year 12/ Level 1 studying Chemistry and/or Maths and Physics at post-16 
  • Have permission from your teacher and parent/carer to attend.

If the event is oversubscribed, priority will be given to students who meet our widening access criteria.

Where does the Practical Day take place?

Activities will be held in the School of Chemistry and School of Chemical & Process Engineering on the University of Leeds campus.
