Yorkshire Community Physics Day
We’re planning a mix of practical sessions, collaborative discussions, and flexible participant-led spaces. The aim is to have useful conversations, practical takeaways, and a stronger local network.
This day for everyone teaching physics takes place on Friday 19 June 2026 from 09:30-15:00, at the University of Leeds. Whether you’re an experienced teacher, an ECT, a trainee, a mentor, or teaching physics as a non-specialist, you’re part of the Yorkshire physics community!
The event is free of charge, and lunch will be provided.
Programme details
We’ve sketched out some theme areas to get us started:
- Practical physics on a budget
- Maths in physics
- Mentoring and early-career support
- Curriculum, misconceptions and tricky topics
- Scientific literacy and real-world context
But the programme is still evolving!
If you have a demo to share, a short workshop idea, or a classroom challenge you’d like colleagues to help you think through, we’d love to include it. We’ll keep updating the schedule as contributions come in and share the latest version ahead of the day.
The formal sessions finish at 15:00. For those who’d like to stay, we’ll continue with an informal, relaxed after-event to keep conversations going and connect with colleagues at the end of the week.
